How AI portraits of you and your pet are made (and what to expect)
An honest look at what happens to your photos, how likeness works, and why you always see a preview first.
“AI portrait” can mean anything from a cartoon to something uncanny. Here's exactly what we do, what it's good at, and where it can go wrong.
1. We check your photos
The moment you add a photo, we check that we can see a face clearly, that it's not too small or too dark, and that there's a person (or pet) in it at all. It takes a couple of seconds and saves you waiting for a portrait that was never going to work.
2. We describe the scene
Each style — By the sea, Cosy at home, Christmas morning — is a carefully written description of the place, the light, the clothing and the mood. We combine that with strict instructions to keep your features, and your pet's breed, colouring and markings, exactly as they are.
3. An image model paints the two of you together
The AI model creates a brand-new photograph-style image with both of you in it, lit as if you'd been there together. We make three variations so you can compare poses.
What it's great at
- Natural light and believable settings
- Faces and expressions that feel like you
- Fur colour, texture and breed details
Where it can slip
- Small details like jewellery, tattoos or the exact pattern of a coat
- Very unusual markings, or mixed breeds with distinctive features
- Photos where the face was small or blurry to begin with
That's why every portrait is a watermarked preview first, and why every portrait includes two free re-dos where you can tell us exactly what to fix.
What happens to your photos
Your photos are only used to make your portraits. They're deleted after 30 days, and they're never used to train AI or for marketing. Finished portraits stay available for you to download again.
