Terms of service

These terms apply when you use Kin & Paws. Contact: hello@kinandpaws.org. Nothing in these terms affects your legal rights as a consumer.

1. What we provide

We create digital portraits of a person and their pet using artificial intelligence (AI), based on photos you upload. Portraits are digital downloads — we don't currently send physical prints.

2. Your photos

  • You must own the photos you upload, or have permission to use them, including from anyone pictured.
  • Photos of children may only be uploaded by, or with the permission of, a parent or guardian.
  • Please don't upload anything illegal, offensive or sexual, or photos of people who haven't agreed. We may refuse or delete such content.
  • You keep all rights to your photos. You give us permission to use them only to make your portraits.

3. Free previews and fair use

You get 2 free, watermarked previews per order. To keep previews free for everyone, we limit how many free orders can be made per email address and per connection, and may pause free previews at busy times.

4. Prices and payment

Previews are free. The price of each portrait is shown clearly before you pay — currently from $19 for the first portrait on an order and from $10 for each extra one ($7 each when 3 or more are bought together), depending on how many people are in the portrait. Prices are in US dollars; if your card is in another currency, your bank or Stripe shows the converted amount. Any sales tax or VAT due is shown at checkout. Payments are handled securely by Stripe. Discount codes can't be exchanged for cash, and only one can be used per purchase.

5. Re-dos

Each portrait includes 2 free re-dos, before or after you buy, as long as your original photos are still stored (we delete them after 30 days).

6. Your right to cancel

Under the Consumer Contracts Regulations you normally have 14 days to cancel an online purchase. For digital content, that right ends once the download starts, provided you've agreed to this. At checkout we ask you to confirm that you want immediate access and understand you'll lose the right to cancel. You've already seen your portrait before paying.

7. If something goes wrong

Under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, digital content must be as described, fit for purpose and of satisfactory quality. If a download is faulty or doesn't match its preview, email us and we'll fix it, remake it, or refund you.

8. About AI images

Portraits are artistic images made by AI. They aim for a close likeness, but small details (such as markings, hands, jewellery or backgrounds) may differ from real life. That's why you see previews first and get free re-dos.

9. Using your portrait

Once you've bought a portrait, you may use it for any personal, non-commercial purpose — print it, frame it, share it or give it as a gift. We may not use your portraits in our marketing without your written permission.

10. Gifts

If you buy a portrait as a gift, we email it to the recipient on the date you choose. Please make sure their email address is correct. The recipient can download the portrait from the link in that email.

11. Our liability

We're responsible for losses you suffer that are a foreseeable result of us breaking these terms. We're not responsible for losses that weren't foreseeable, or for business losses. Nothing here limits liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that can't legally be limited.

12. Age, changes and law

You must be 18 or over to buy. We may update these terms, and the version in force when you order applies to that order. These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. If you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you can also bring claims in your local courts.
